Our team of osteopaths, physiotherapists, and sports therapists are highly skilled in the application of sports taping and strapping techniques. These methods are integral in providing support and stability to injured joints and muscles, promoting healing, and preventing further injury.
Our therapists use a variety of taping materials and methods tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring optimal results whether it’s for acute injury management, post-surgical support, or joint support for contact sports. Through precise application, sports taping and strapping can alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, and improve functional movement, allowing our patients to safely and effectively return to their daily activities and sports.
Types of tape
- Kinesiology tape
A thin tape made popular by the many designs and colours available. Used as a proprioceptive aid that provides positional feedback. It's also used to reduce bruising
- Zinc oxide (white)
Ideal for strapping fingers and thumbs, it's a great way if preventing movement through a small joint or reducing skin damage in sports like CrossFit or powerlifting
- Zinc oxide (brown)
A tape used commonly in rugby where players need stability combined with mobility. The tape is taught but allows more stretch then white zinc oxide. Making it perfect for strapping large mobile joints
- Anchorage tape
Certain tapes don't stick well to skin or have a harsh effect on the skin. Anchorage tape is therefore used to both encourage adhesion and prevent skin irritation
- Elastic adhesive bandage (EAB)
Flexible and supportive, perfect for insulating and gently supporting a joint or limb. Also used as lineout tape or to protect the head during contact sports
